Review causes of more specific types of Chronic diarrhoea
Diarrhea is basically defined as loose and watery stools. The main indication of the diarrhea in daily life can be identified if passing loose stools is observed several times within a day. There are two types of the diarrhea, namely acute and chronic. Acute diarrhea will not last more than 1-2 days and will have negligible effects to the person's overall health condition. However, if the diarrhea symptoms are observed more than 2-days, then immediate medical assistance is required. In case if the diarrhea lasts more than 4 weeks it is considered as a chronic diarrhea. The symptoms of the chronic diarrhea might be continues or it might come and go after some time. It is strongly advised to seek immediate medical care if the chronic diarrhea has the complications such as bloody diarrhea, dehydration, fever, or weight loss).
Causes of the chronic diarrhea might be the same as the causes of the acute diarrhea but it will also include: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (known as the Crohn's disease), endocrine disorders (hyperthyroidism – overactive thyroid), and chronic infections.

The best way to cure this disease would be finding the root cause of the diarrhea. Several tests will need to be taken in order to identify the cause. These tests include stool, blood and urine which are considered basic tests that used to find out the underlying cause of disease. But if the results of these tests would inconclusive, then other procedures may be needed to be done, including X-ray, colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy.
Once the root cause of the chronic diarrhea is identified, the treatment would be as simple as eliminating the root cause. Sometimes, even eliminating certain food or medicine from the person's daily life might help in healing the illness. But in serious situations, usage of the certain medicines needs to be considered. These medicines include IMODIUM (Synonims: Loperamide) that are very effective in stopping the diarrhea in adults.
